Big Beat Festivals 2014
March 25th, 2014 by Emma Archer
All looking good at LLanfoist Primary School this morning for the start of the Big Beat Festival with Chrys Blanchard, Freddy Edmonds and Ben Baddoo. The Big Beat Project 2014 has been running since September 2013 and this week’s Festival is a culmination of teachers workshops and working with the children on various aspects of the curriculum. “The Festival is a celebration, bringing children and teachers from different schools together through a common language of music. All the skills we need to make music together are those that we need to build healthy and harmonius communities. This year we have material from India, Samoa, Kenya, Ghana and Zimbabwe plus snippets from our own culture” (Chrys Blanchard).
“We would also like to thank Waitrose, Abergavenny for providing some of the fruit for the amazing celebratory fruit kebabs we make each day to serve to each person attending the festival” (Freddy Edmonds).
