Gwent Music is pleased to welcome Music For Youth to our Spring Showcase series. We have developed
this series in order to sustain the involvement of as many children and young people with the Music for
Youth event, whilst responding to ongoing Local Authority savings. This new way of showcasing the
fantastic talent we have, will mean that all the groups you hear tonight will automatically be considered
for selection to progress to the next level at the National Festival in Birmingham in July; we hope that
some will gain a place on a main stage. There will be an opportunity at the end of the concert for the
groups to receive some verbal feedback from our mentor, and we will circulate the written feedback to all

As we start the new music calendar, the Friends of Great Gwent Youth Music have arranged a post-rehearsal social on the 15th September. From 12.30, there will be a variety of gourmet catering vans providing lunch for students. Friends of Greater Gwent Music will be paying for this as a welcome back for our musicians of 2018! They would love to see parents, family and friends there too with gourmet food options available to purchase. There will also be live music from the Gwent Music Staff Band, busking and the chance to socialise and hear more about how you can help the Friends Committee to raise funds and support our young musicians. It would be great to see you there!

The Combined Newport & Torfaen Guitar Ensemble and the Gwent Youth Percussion Ensemble are performing in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on Wednesday, with the Gwent Youth Choir performing in Symphony Hall.
