INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
WHAT IS IT?
Music access funds have been made available by the Local Authorities of Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen to support pupils financially in participating in Gwent Music tuition, examinations and activities.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The funds are available to offer financial support to students who are eligible for free school meals. Poor attendance at instrumental and vocal lessons may result in future applications being declined.
HOW MUCH CAN BE APPLIED FOR & WHEN DO I NEED TO APPLY?
Applications can be made towards instrumental or vocal lessons where a charge is applicable:-
- Maximum of £65 per term group tuition
- Or maximum up to £65 per term towards full cost of individual tuition
Applications can also be made towards examinations and extra-curricular activities.
HOW CAN I APPLY?
When enrolling online and entering your child’s details, you will need to indicate that your child is eligible for free school meals. There is a tick box for this on the Gwent Music parent portal. We will request confirmation of eligibility from the Revenues and Benefits Service in your Local Authority.
WHAT IF I AM UNSUCCESFUL WITH MY APPLICATION
Applications will be granted on a first come first served basis within each Local Authorities funding allocation. Availability of the fund is subject to approval each new year by each relevant Local Authority.
